Tantra "Fact or Fiction"
From an Eastern perspective,
most Westerners have no clue about real
Tantra. Their conclusions are
based on thousands of years of
tradition and practice. For
example, how many Tantrics actually
pray, light inscense or peform
true Shiva Linga rituals?
However, there has to be a blending
so that us Westerners can meet
East to learn and embrace such
beauty in life. Living in the bible
belt here in Texas, many just
aren't able to accept some of the diety
worshiping ceremonies that are
common to many Tantric rituals.
A few of the initiations may
be too much or even illegal in
our society. There has got to
be some kind of understanding by
Guru's in this area. Yet, it
is those traditions and rituals that make
Tantra what it is.
On the flip side, our Western
society has bastardized traditions to fit our
own need for immediate gratification
and desire of physical pleasure.
One Tantric practitioner said
to me... "What isn't Tantra? Are not
all things Tantric?". I don't
think a quick rub and tug at a local
massage parlor is Tantric at
all. Tantra goes way beyond physical
beauty or pleasure. However,
one can also find bliss in physical
expression if the intent is
there. Intent is the key element.
